When i was 5 years old... (41 years ago).. i used to get a ride
to kindergarten in a bug-eye... .. and i have loved them ever
since.. about 3 years ago.. i had a chance to buy a sprite..
not a bug eye.. but I knew.. it was THEN or NEVER.. if i ever
was to get one at all.. so I "found" the $$$ and have had a
riotous time (when it isn't broken down) ever since..
According to my serial number (if i read things correctly) mine
is a high compression engine and a close ratio gear box... but
the engine needs a rebuild in the worst way... i fill up with
OIL and check the gasoline.. really... about 20 miles to the
quart of oil.... out the valve guides... out the exhaust pipe..
out the rear .. i hesitate to call them seals... .... ... but
it runs ..... and sounds teriffic... oil is cheaper than the a
rebuild... !!!!!!
hope to "trade up" to a bug eye.. and my ultimate goal
would be
a LOTUS SUPER 7....MMMMMMM.....
speaking of broken down.. i have been waiting for 6 weeks for
BRITISH VICTORIA to send the pulley for the crankshaft (that
turns the belt that turns the water pump and the generator)...
..I need one BADLY... any out there..? the summer is dwindling
away and i live in western Washington state... where there are
only so many good days a year anyway....
