What makes it interesting is that the people that I personally know who have
had an aftermarket EI unit fail is that it occured soon after a rapid
temperature change, as if an integrated circuit inside the box changed size
slightly, and a connection failed. That's what happened with mine. It
occured on the first "below-freezing" day that I owned my Midget, and I
spent quite a while thinking that my choke cable had broken, or that I had a
mixture problem.
I've never actually heard of one conking out on the road.
