Well, the owner of the Morris Traveller at the local mechanic finally called
to set a price. Unfortunately, she had been looking too closely at Hemmings
and not closely enough at her own car. She wants 10K for a rolling
restoration. Any of you deep pocket types that are still interested can
e-mail me and I'll put you in touch with her. Otherwise, I'll let her sit
on it for a year or two and try again. My wife was already planning the
curtains for the rear windows (ugh!).
Back in the Sprite world, I got the engine and new clutch disc in (using the
old TO bearing again just to freak out Ed.) and it ran great to MM's final
swap meet. The speedo cable parted halfway there so I still don't know what
kind of mileage I'm getting with the 1.5" on the turbo. Oh well, if
everything worked at once, I'd be driving a Volvo and the smile would be
gone.
