<< Hello ryan,

             for a double clutch downshift.....say... 4th to 3rd..

push in the clutch.. move the shift lever to neutral...

             let out the clutch

blip the throttle... (rev the engine to make the engine
                                   speed match the lower gear)

push in the clutch... move the shift lever to the lower
             gear...

             release the clutch...

to do the upshift... same process.. but don't rev the
engine,... just wait until the engine slows down... to the
             new.. lower rpm...

this is why it is important to have the brake and gas
pedals properly arranged.. during downshifts, when one is
operating under braking, one should be able to roll the
foot onto the gas pedal and continue to brake, while
blipping the throttle... also known as

             heel and toeing... >>

Also Ryan,

Holding the wheel steady with your left elbow (LHD only) while reaching into
the passenger footwell to retrieve a cold beverage, thus leaving the left
hand free to pull pop top, while nudging shift lever from 3rd to 4th with
crook of right arm...

is known as elbowing.

Extra points for this manuver if cell phone is clinched between left shoulder
and ear.
