   Sorry to contradict you Gerard but BMC publication #AKD 1627F ( MK
1 Sprite ) dated 1964 shows the speedo for the LHD car to be on the
L/S of the steering wheel and for the RHD car the speedo is to the R/S
of the steering wheel.

Speedo is on the right in either LHD or RHD cases. If you have it on
the
left the cable doesn't line up right and is stressed such that it
won't
thread on correctly and may cause the canle to break... don't ask how
I
know. There is no angle drive required.
