I've been to the machine shop in Sacramento 4 times this week as the bugeye
motor is in intensive care. Tomorrow I should get back the fitted
pistons/rods and finish re-assembly. Whew! It looks like the rebuild
(whatever that means after the last thread) will run me about $700. Of
course I hadn't counted on the burned piston (thanks Peter, the new set is
perfect)and the worn intake valve stems/guides. What the heck, I'm lead
free now, everythings up to spec and its painted up like a <crude simile
deleted>. With a long Friday night in the garage I might be ready for the
rain to let up on Saturday and head out for a test drive.

My wife is starting to give me the eyeball as her Traveller sits on the back
burner while the bugeye gets heart surgery. Rearranging the pile of
varnished wood bits didn't fool her for a minute.
