All the grocery stores had a stack on the counter. I would go with my father
to get a bucket of lard (you had to bring your own bucket) and if I begged,
he would buy me one. My mouth still waters when I think of them.....

I still have a scar on my cheek from that lard bucket and the grabby
mechanical  brakes on a '36 Ford.
