The best thing is to consider it a paid for lesson, and throw the used cooler
away.  You should never run a used oil cooler.  No shop or cleaner can get all
the grit and trash out of the cooler innards, so they go into your engines
bearings and such instead.

Now if you don't mind the engine damage that will result from the used cooler,
clean it up with oven cleaner and such.
