The often repeated advice that curing the rear seal oil leak from a 1275
depends on a crankcase vacuum is sooo correct.
Before the rebuild it was leak free with no vacuum, after the rebuild, I
have been getting a tablespoon after each shutdown of the motor.
This weekend I tapped a hose barb into the adaptor throat that joins the
carb to the turbo inlet as a source of vacuum, attached a hose with a cheap
generic PCV and joined the other end to the timing cover oil separator. NO
MORE LEAK! In the last week I've cured oil leaks on our POS van, Volvo, and
the bugeye. I may have to wash down the driveway and see if any of that
gray concrete stuff is still under there.
