What I do is bookmark the item, if I really need it I put a post it note on the
monitor so I don't forget it (old-timers disease kicking in). I wait until 2
minutes to auction close and enter my absolute maximum bid on the screen. I have
of course by this time synchronized my watch to know EXACTLY when the auction
closes. At 20 seconds to close I hit the enter button. There is no time to sneak
in an outbid. If I win, great. If not, I offered what I was willing to pay, and
somebody wanted it more than I. I see no point in bidding early when all that
does is drive the price up because someone else feels the need to outbid
you...................... that's the M.O. of this sniper................
