I realize that the discussion on Big Healey owners vs Spridget owners
has been covered before, but I had a bit of a culture shock Friday. I
have been enlisted to help fix the brakes on a '61 BT7 so while in Ft.
Worth I picked up a copy of Moss' parts catalog that is stocked at
British Auto Specialists (saves waiting for that disgruntled gun toting
postal worker). I have wanted a BN1 ever since I first saw one, no
longer...............!! While our Spridget generator bracket is $16.95
vs a BN1 bracket at $88.90, the oil pump for mine is $39.95 vs. $429.95
plus driving spindle at an additional $209.95 for the Big guy. I know
understand why many (not all!!) Big Healey owners react the way they do
to us Spridget owners. You might as well ask them to wish their servants
"good day" every morning. I know that we have quite a variety of folks
in many various professions, from students and bus drivers to
carpenters, doctors, and even some of the real low down guys..........
lawyers. I will never be able to restore a Big Healey on my wages and if
I could, I would more than likely be a snobbish jerk when I was done as
well. I don't really know, but I am fairly certain I will never find
out. Anyway, for those that aspire for one of the "big boys" make sure
you research the cost prior to ownership. For what a BN1 oil pump costs,
I have a complete running driving STREET LEGAL '69 Midget. So as the
subject line says I LOVE MY SPRIDGETS!!!!
As for my opinion of the BT7 owner, he is one of the few "good" guys.
When I first met him, I gave him a ride in Martha's 68 and after the
ride he gave me an original owners manual that he had held onto, in
hopes of owning one himself. He stopped by to visit on Tuesday last
week, saw that I had gotten a Bugeye, and told me all about his owning
one when he was younger. About an hour after he left, he returned, with
another gift!!! He gave me his original owners manual from HIS Bugeye,
that he had kept for over 20 years out of sentimental value. So not all
Big Healey owners have to be Jerks........................... I'll leave
you to form your own opinions about Ed............ <VBG> ( I like him)

Elizabeth, you and Fisher may see the '69 this September at
Spridgetstock 2001. For all those that won't be in attendance, I have
set up an account at Club Photo and will be hosting pictures of the $500
Midget as well as some of the Spridgetstock Reunion photos there. They
are not much really, just pictures of Elizabeth, Robert and I drinking
alcohol and smoking cigars and generally paying for making stupid
comments........................ later all, Brad
