Hi,
I mounted (by hand) a new set of 175 70 13s on the wire-wheeled '72
Midget. About $160 from Sam's. They fit and look nice. They are a
little shorter than the 155 80s but wider in the tread. Now the tread
spans about the same width as the rim. I mounted them myself(with much
help from a friend) by hand because after cleaning and prepping the
wires for painting, I realized how easily they could be damaged by
knuckle-heads with power tools.
Also, while prepping the sand-blasted wheels for painting, I noticed one
odd-ball wheel. It is a Firestone 13 by 4.5". The other five were
Dunlop (I think) 13 by 4s. So, I have a 13 by 4.5" Firestone wire wheel
that was blasted and painted bright silver and clear coated that I don't
need. If anyone needs such a thing, email me off list.
