I noticed that, but the angle stuff I used was only about 3/4" wide, so there 
was plenty of clearance.  I coated it with that red, insulating paint stuff 
used on tool handles just to be safe.  The bracket is at least 3/4" from the 
posts and quite solid, so I have not had any problems.  This may vary with 
battery construction, I guess.
