ok you can give the defective distributor to me (i always wanted one but
never could bring myself to pay for one...)? or you can remove the breaker
plate and check the posts the points pivot on for loosness yourself.
mallory distributors are known for chronic problems with their staked in
place posts for the points coming loose . and if that is not enough they
also (not as much as the breaker plate problem) have some shaft wobble
problems too. none of these conditions appear untill they have seen use for
a bit.
the condition you are experiencing more likely than not , is a variance in
dwell from point float.
