Hello James,

       been there,
James,
been there.. i'm not much of a mech, so if you can what you did
already you can do the next thing.

take the tach out of the dash.
      take the back off
you will find a little adjustment screw inside. its fairly
      obvious.
mark the back of the case and drill a hole to line up with that
screw big enough for a "tweaker" screwdriver to fit thru
put the back back, then put the tach back in car.
now you can adjust the tach, on the fly, or hook up a dwell
meter and "dial in the tach".

taking one loop off the back of the tach seems to work for some
people, but it didn't work for me. i think it adds "stability"
      to the readings.

good luck! you can do it!
