I just had to jump in on this after reading the horror storys of a friend's
Mini.
He is emailing me at the same time.
He has a 1380 cc. Nothing but problems since it was finished. Infact, it took 2
blocks to get the machine work right. Offset lifters or pushrod holes and other
stuff a "regular" machine shop might not know about. His engine lasted him 2
years
and it is not really a daily driver although I have tried to keep up with him a
few times with my Sprite. He always wins or should I say he always won.
A very expensive engine to build and not a very reliable engine in the end.

Just from what I hear, no expierience personally, I am happy with my .030
overbore.

As for bang for the buck, Weber DCOE, cam, adjustable t/belt setup.
