All automotive paint brands make their own degreaser and they're priced
accordingly. There is a "generic" brand called Grow Automotive that makes
the same degreasing product and you'll probably find it is a lot more
economical. You  will not get the same results with lacquer thinner, as I
believe it leaves a film behind, and probably not a good idea on already
painted surfaces. The degreaser also promotes adhesion on already painted
surfaces. You should use it after you've sanded your primer or color coats
before applying a fresh coat too.
