Basically those K & N oval housings consist of 2 cast aluminium plates
that bolt together with 2 bolts about 3" in length such that they
sandwich the oval K & N filter between them. The inner plate then
has the two orifices (Hey fancy words!) that match the size and
spacing of the two SU carbs and bolt holes for fixing. Ok, there are
refinements like raised ribs on the outer face and cast in Midget or
Sprite lettering, and radiused entrances to the carbs but in the
simple form one could make something quite serviceable and presentable
out of two pieces of 3/16" aluminium.

Bit of shaping and polishing, maybe add some bellmouths to assist in
air flow plus of course a K & N filter and you have saved maybe $150
on the UK price!
What are you waiting for!?
