On the early cars, the windscreen frame to body seal was cut over-length and a
small part (1/2" to 3/4") is tucked under the post to body rubber seal.  If you
look at a windscreen post, on the bottom is a hollowed out part where the
windscreen to body seal and the post to body seal press up into when the whole
thing is screwed down.  It is tough to do, but this is what was done at the
factory.
