There is a big difference between a hollow roll pin type dowel that locates 
something and a solid metal dowel.  I suggest the flywheel dowels are solid 
because they are doing more than just locating and where this not the case 
they would be hollow roll pin type dowels.  On some engines a mod is to drill 
the crank and flywheel to take solid dowels between the bolts to reinforce 
the flywheel fastening.

Anyone fancy ringing up APT as asking for their tech advice to post to the 
list?
