ok just a brief(yeah right!) note to let evryone know that i had a great
trip to putnam park(just west of indy) and cincinati (where it was ungodly
hot!) for the saab owner's national convention.
i recieved a third place in the competition photo contest for my picture of
me on 3 wheels at VIR last year. the car recieved third place in
competition cars on their show field . and i was awarded the walter kern
award for doing the most over the last year "to improve the breed". i was
so choked up recieving that award i almost cried! there is a long story
about who walter was and what the award means in the saab comunity. i'll
spare all you that. but suffice to say that it is a very significant
achievment in that group. my seminar on vintage racing went well and was
well attended.
the track time i had at putnam park testing the nokian NRH tires (185/65-15)
was great! they handled just as well as the yokohama avid's that i have
been running for 2 years prior.
i'm glad to be home, glad to have had a great time, and very honored by the
awards bestowed upon me by my peers.
oh yeah.(obligatory post card message:) a good time was had by all!
and those of you know about last year's britfest incident with my bugeye
???? it happened at the saab owner's convention too! i was told by the
police (2 armed deputys!)i could not cruise the lot on private property due
to a noise ordinance! to add insult to injury i was told i was keeping the
children up, 30 minutes before the fireworks at king's island (wich is
directly across the street)amusement park were set off! wich was about 30
minutes before 2 bus loads of convention participants kids returned from
king's island! i got in trouble for cruising the lot at a car show with
my car ! go figure! (the resort was sold out to the saab owner's
convention too! ) at the banquet when i was awarded the walter kern award
a whole table of central penn saab owners stood up and chanted "don't wake
the children"!(ya gotta love these guys!)

btw! california trip is on hold again! owner of car had to go out of town
to take care of some sudden family business and will be contacting me upon
return to reset a delivery date......c.
