Hello David,

for the electrical---- instead of running a seperate service,
whick is NOT allowed in most jurisdictions, OR tapping off the
panel in your house to go the garage, do THIS

replace your present service (most likely a 200 amp) with a 320
amp service. from there you can directly to BOTH your house AND
your garage with a 200 amp panel EACH!!!!!!! the new service
cans allow this and you don't have to go to "C.T"'s (current
transformers) to go to the meter base. with a 200 amp, 42
circuit panel in your garage you will have PLENTY of POWER for
anything anyone could ever want to do. while you have the
ditch(s) open for the service, run an EMPTY pvc conduit , (one
and half inch) between the house and the garage, with a 12" X
12" junction box at each end. into this you can run your
telephone, cat 5 (make that cat 5 E!!!) cable, and a PULL
       STRING for the future!).

also, one of the listers suggested a steel pipe around for your
air lines and air tools. PVC is much easier to work with, hold
air just as well, AND you can put your taps in much easier in
the future, as you find that they are not in spots you expected
you needed them. a HUGE tank for the air compressor as well.

also, as long as the ditch is open, put in a water line!!!!
nice to be able to wash up before you go back to the house,
PLUS put in a TOILET!!!!!! good place to puke when you and your
friends drink all the beer out of the old fridge that is also a
       must for a comfortable shop!!!

       just my 2".
