Pat...

All turbine aircraft oil is synthetic as are
their hydraulic fluids.

Synthetics have superior film strength,
coating and flow capability in all temperatures. They ARE really the
best
of the best, though there is nothing wrong
with brand name mineral oils or partial
synthetics either for our auto machinery.

Don't be fooled by the 25.000 miles adds...synthetics will last this
long but
oil is changed to remove engine contaminents, not because the oil itself
has "worn out".

Every three months or 3,000 miles except
you might go 5,000 assuming the great
majority is "over the road" highway driving
at reasonably high speeds wherein the
engine really has a chance to get and
stay warm for extended periods of time so
that contaminents (including water) get "burned off".

Just remember that metal contamination
doesn't burn off!! :)
