I am amazed at this. On the one hand,
they have engines "producing" at over
10.0-1 on 87PON uneaded but, you
can't replace a blown head gasket
without virtually destroying the engine...

On the other hand, replacing that head
gasket on these engines is not the simple
job it used to be. Just getting the head off
in terms of everything that's got to come
out first, can be a chore and 1/2. And,
while it's off....a valve job on a 16 valve
head might not be too cheap, either. And
by the time you've replaced everything
after buttoning it back down...I dunno...

maybe just "R&R"'ing a guaranteed rebuild
and trading in the current engine as a core
is as, or more, economical?
