My Ryobi 9.6v cordless drill will spin a speedo up to about 15 KPH... I used it
to see if a metric speedo worked once! Give it a try. If you get a reading, it
is probably OK.

But...if I insert a little stick and rotate it counter-clockwise I get some
movement of the needle. Can anyone tell me if this indicates it might be
working? I know...I need to simply purchase the cable and install anyway, but
I'm prioritizing a boatload of purchases right now...
