I just did that very thing -- M Roadster and then the Bugeye. For front
engined, rear-drive, two seat roadsters, they almost could not be more
different.
The M is thoroughly modern, extremely fast, it brakes hard enough to unzip
your fly, it is relatively supple and smooth and it has more than enough power
to get you into big trouble if you don't pay attention -- it's a car that would
be truly dangerous in the hands of a 16-year-old boy. The Bugeye, on the
other hand, is loud, old-school unrefined, raucous and intense -- truly a
minimalistic street-legal go-kart. The performance of the Bugeye is far more
useful
at lower speeds -- very forgiving and not nearly enough power to get into any
real trouble on the street unless you're an idiot (or you have a mechanical
failure). In fact, just keeping up with traffic in the Bugeye can feel like
you're racing at LeMans -- just immensely fun in many ways. They both rule,
and
I'm so lucky to have access to both of them, even if only for awhile.
