Thread-topic: fuel pump hole
I did something very similar about 8 years ago to the 1275 in my Mk 2 Sprite.
Since the engine was out of the car at the time, I just drilled and tapped the
blank fuel pump boss (mine was solid) to accept a 3/4" thread natural gas 90
deg street elbow. I shoved a straight rubber hose over that and secured it
with an ordinary radiator clamp. I ran the hose up even with the top of the
valve cover and supported the upper end with a little aluminum bracket I
fabricated back to the front exhaust manifold nut. I bought a $3.00 crankcase
breather at AutoZone that was a push fit into the top of the rubber hose. This
was very simple and really helped cut down on my rear oil drips. Lots of folks
saw this at Sprite Rush 1998. I do change the breather about twice a year.
Hey, it worked for me!!!

I missed the beginning of this discussion. But, my $0.02 is:

I made a blanking plate of aluminum & tapped it to accept a 90-degree
fitting that leads to the hose going to the front tappet cover vent line
which then joins with the rocker cover vent line which feeds into the 1-qt.
filter/catch can required for vintage racing. Yes, only 3 engine vents on
the Spridget -powered Turner.

Total cost of plate & fitting was about $2.00.
