first off, if you can hear yourself think(or hear a resonant vibration) the
exhaust system is too quiet. LOL!
did you put the sound deadener/isolation strips inbetween the gas tank and
the boot floor? possibly the gas tank is vibrating against the boot floor?
might not be THE answer but it's what came to mind. obviously not
suspension, as with or without spacers it's in a loaded state and not prone
to resonant vibration.
