...fix a broken accelerator cable.
Usually the break occurs at the pinch bolt on the linkage. (pre Spitified 
Spridgets) When that happens, spin the pinch bolt around so that the extra 
cable is facing up. Bend the broken end from the pedal and the end of the 
extra into hooks so they'll stay together. This'll get you down the road so 
long as you don't mash the pedal.
        A more permanent fix (without the real cable) can be done using a 3" 
bit 
of solid wire (electric fence or baling) hooked into the rear carb return 
spring hole. Then wrap the other end of that wire into a loop around the 
cable hooked from before. OR, even better is to crimp a 1/4 ounce fishing 
split shot sinker onto the cable.
        This has just been accomplished and driven at speed for 50-some miles.
