Hey, Bob....consider.....

That aluminum head is not only
lighter, it also flows around 30%
better than stock, runs cooler, uses 12mm
plugs due to a "centered" plug in the
combustion chamber (more even burn
across the piston) and comes with
hardened seats. 

However, it also comes
stock with 23.5cc combustion chambers
but there is plenty of metal to bring it down to the stock iron head's
capacity of
21cc (or whatever your iron head has got)
to maintain your current compression
ratio.

Thin flange block or not, considering the
state of tune of your 1293, the aluminum
head might make a real nice addition in
terms of better performance, considering
you have to do a number on the current
iron head anyway?
