oil cooler, short circuit and throttle cable

I'm using a serck oil cooler and my stock filter now doesn't fit. It seems it
would in the area of seal circumference, but the threaded stud on the cooler is
different (smaller) Does anyone know where I could get a proper stud or what
filter the Serck uses? I've tried to go to parts shops to find a filter by
thread size - no luck, although I did get one invitation to check every filter
they have under threat of death if I put one in the wrong box.

2) are you sitting down? my car has a short. I'm pretty well schooled in
methods of tracking these down ( I had a TR7 I used in all weather!) but since
it's fairly specific I thought one of you might have an idea first. The car
ran fine, motor was removed, it's back in and there's a large short with the
key and everything off. When you try to attach the battery it sparks and the
radio, if on, goes BARRRRRRRRR like that through the speakers. the alternator
is plugged in, ground strap on engine, pos. lead on starter. Any ideas of what
might have been overlooked hooking things back up?

3) putting on a DGV. Unless I'm missing something the way it's supposed to
face requires the throttle on a LHD car to loop around the far side of the carb
and it's too short. Does anyone make a properly fitted out replacement or
should I just buy some cable and bodge away?

Thanks! have a great weekend and Happy Veterans day to those who have served,
don't forget the parades etc. this weekend, let's hope the rest of our troops
in Iraq celebrate it at home next year.
