Charlie, Is there a particular reason you do not want Macs on the
network?? I know they used to be called "chatty" but not for at least 6
years (about System 7.5) has that been true. They also play well with
Windows. I can use an Active Directory server as a login authenticator
as well as the Windows folks down the hall. I just choose not to.

FWIW I also have Linux Boxes, Solaris Boxes, Tru-64 Boxes, and several
flavors of Windows. In my case the cost in time and effort of
supporting the 10 Windows systems far out strips the cost and time of
supporting the over 100 Macs and other assorted servers and
workstations. Let alone all the update, security and AV patches that
need to be done. And, lest you get me wrong, they ALL need them, just
that Windows, being the biggest target, has a ton more of them. And I
am the sole support person in this department, including all the Linux,
etc systems.

BTW the point you make about the reason you have a Windows box is VERY
telling.
