inside the trunk is not a bad idea, BUT! not quite viable for a correct
color shade! why-O-why you ask? a spare tire is a rubber / petroleum
distalate with a rather high "carbon black" content. whut's that got ta do
with it yer asking? well i'll tell ya! over time that nice hot little
pressure cooker of a trunk bakes the tire rubber senseless causing the oils
to evaporate out of the tire. those oils discolor paint! ever see a
trunk of a 30-40 year old car with a white trunk around where the tire
physically made contact against the painted surface of the trunk? the
white paint is stained anything from a slight yellowing to a rather
pronounced tan / brown color. this discoloration is not just locally
spread but throughout the entire trunk area. this effects the shade of the
pant in that area effecting the actual tone of the color.
another consideration is the color analiser people have cautioned me that
the color gun needs a uninterrupted surface(no braces or reinforcements or
embossed reinforcements!). once again why you ask? the color analiser
needs to look dead on atthe surface and if it is not it's trying to read
refraction of difrent surfaces at one time causing a mis reading!
just some of the do's and dont's of trying to work with your paint
distributor.
it reduces your frustration and wasted time running back and forth.

chuck.

Inside of the trunk sounds like a capitol
thought...excellent.
