Retirement wasn't my idea and in
any case....

...in order to understand "today", you've gotta be able to understand
"yesterday". You can get as automated
as you damn well please; in the end it
comes down to educated "hands on" & "stick & rudder". 

The current mandatory US airline pilot retirement age is (by Federal
Law), 60.

Prior to "Osama day", the House passed
a bill that would have returned it to the
prior 65. On 9/25/01, the Senate was to
hold hearings on their version (age 63) 
of a revised US airline pilot retirement
age bill, while taking the House version
into consideration.

The rest is recent history. Them's the
breaks!! Welcome to reality! :)
