My F350 crew cab with the 460 gets 10 mpg, whether it's loaded, empty, or
pulling a trailer.  The important thing to be aware of is whether the
vehicle is capable of doing the job you got it for.  I could have bought a
350, but it would not have done as well pulling a heavily loaded trailer
through the mountains, especially with a full load on the truck.  When you
average out the mileage, the big engine is not working as hard under load,
so it will actually be getting better mileage than the smaller engine under
the same conditions. Next time you fill your Suburban, ask yourself how much
gas you would be buying for the 2 - 3 Toyotas that you would need to replace
the big rig.  Save your money.  The fuel gadgets don't work.
