This weekend started like the last one. Little Boomer took
me to teach, but had no intention of bringing me home.

A friend came to visit and I was gonna take her on a nice
tour of the levees along the Sacramento River. There is a
very quaint bar/restaurant in a 150 year old Chinese town
called Locke. The place is called "Al The Wop's" and they do
an excellent flat grill steak, raviolis, and fries with rotgut red.
Most of the old wood buildings lean one way or the other.

Half a mile along the road was enuf. 4 hours waitiing for
AAA to tow it back to the start. No dinner at Al's tonite!

By now the ingition was freshly rebuilt and the 45DCOE
rejetted and clean. The gas tank and filters back to work.
I was running outa things to fix, but leaving the parking
lights on all morning wasn't smart. Doh!

Went back today and found the car had backfired and
blown a snug plastic cap from the vacuum inlet on the
intake manifold. TRUST NOTHING! Drove home favoring
the clutch and savoring the car's sweet throaty laughter.
Back roads are what it's all about.

As the sun lowered, we found a favorite one-lane road
that follows a stream down a narrow wooded ravine with
moss for several miles, making secret creek sounds as we
coasted VOLUNTARILY down to the serenade.

I am heartily relieved and grateful for the support of good friends.
Yeah, Cap'n Bob, Frank, Kevin, Pa, Kate...............
