Very cool, Jim...

that you got to talk to this guy. The paint
does look pretty good and of course, the
casual observer has no way of knowing
the prep work, which is what the paint
job is really all about.

Any car recently painted looks just great
but you really get to know the "true"
quality of the job a year or two down the
road when less than quality prep work
begins to show and "come through".

16K normally equals a LOT of quality
prep, considering the small size of
the car, assuming his man is not a
rip-off. Easily checked, BTW, assuming
the seller has receipts. In this case, sounds like he had an excellent
job done.

It'll never sell at what he's
asking as the car is nowhere near this
valuable, condition notwithstanding. But,
you never know.

When this fellow says it's become
truly "too nice to drive", I know exactly
what he means. If one can do the prep
work themselves, MAACO is an excellent
way to go (I use these guys myself) as
painting (and the quality of their paint) is
something they do very well, IME.

However, I always pay the "extra" for
a coat of their primer/sealer before they
do their Ambassador job.

My fibreglass BE bonnet has finally
arrived and will be installed shortly.
Then we'll get the bodywork finished
and head for the local MAACO. Gonna
see whether they'll let me supply Leaf
Green in whatever formula they'd like
to use. If not, we'll see what green they
have available.
