This message is in response to your e-mail.
Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 46.37.510 states in part, ". . .(2) Every
passenger car manufactured or assembled after January 1, 1965, shall be
equipped with at least two lap-type safety belt assemblies for use in the front
seating positions. . . ."
If your vehicle did not come originally equipped with safety belts, you are not
required to retrofit with a safety belt system.
RCW 46.61.687 states in part, "(1) Whenever a child who is less than sixteen
years of age is being transported in a motor vehicle that is in operation and
that is required by RCW 46.37.510 to be equipped with a safety belt system in a
passenger seating position, or is being transported in a neighborhood electric
vehicle that is in operation, the driver of the vehicle shall keep the child
properly restrained as follows: . . ."

Hello equipment,
my basic assumption it that they can't make you retrofit safety
equipment (if your car didn't come with seat belts like a '57
chevy say,) then you don't have to use them and can't be
ticketed for NOT using them. .... and if this is correct, then
what about not using a child safety seat in such car? how is
this addressed? just curious.
