Refreshed PIECES made it's maiden voyage tonight being totally re-assembled.
Diane and I went out for ice cream in it.
Only 2 minor problems considering all the work that went into in in the
last 2 months.
No low beams, but I fixed that after a trip around the block, and the
speedo doesn't work, cable not spinning so it's in the tranny.
PIECES has had a rebuilt 1098 and rebuilt ribcase dropped in her.
Totally rebuild set of 1.25 SUs, all new exhaust, fresh coat of paint,
new marine grade carpet in dark blue. And reupholstered seats now mostly
dark blue with white outer panels. I had a bunch of dark blue left over
from the interior panels so I handed the roll to Walt and told him to
make some interesting seats. He did another fantastic job!!
New black wrinkled dash and a smoked harness thrown in just for good
measure.
The stock 1098 sure sounds good with it's long legged pull, but it's not
nearly as fast as the ole 1275. New carbs seem real close at all speeds,
maybe just a tad rich cause the car sneezed when I shut it off, might be
timing too. Guy's milk bottle caps make perfect turn signal indicators
for the dash if your little green lenses are melted.
So it's all back together and ready for the rally if you need a car Ron.
I put a whole 8 miles on it :) I am confident it will make the trip,
rally and return home.
