I did mine last week,
froze flywheel overnight in home freezer, laid ring gear on bed of coals in
backyard BBQ for 15 min. I grabbed the ring gear with a pair of channel
locks and dropped it right over the frozen flywheel that I had laid on the
patio. It dropped into place with a clang and quickly shrank into a
rock-solid fit. If my ring gear has lost its temper, it will just have to
be snotty and ill-tempered in the bell-housing where I don't have to put up
with it!
Seriously, my old one lived 45 years, if this one lost a bit of temper maybe
I get only 10 years?
