.....too much time spent with 1275's.

.....much better...small diameter tube which drops "vertically"
from a valve lifter cover
on a 948 and thus, a case of crankcase
"over" pressurization exists Lester, unless the crankcase has been
over-filled.

Usually, this "condition" or situation is
normally caused by combustion gases "blowing by" the piston rings (worn
engine) and will most always be
accompanied by a goodly quantity
of oil leaking by the rear main "seal"
(between engine/gearbox) as well.

Would this be your situation, Lester?

Maybe time for a re-build?? I will send
you a subsequent email incorporting a site which explains
compression/leakdown test procedures so you may run the appropriate
checks, Lester.
