Hello Dan,
don't really know about the missing problem... but i suspect
the points and condensor combo.... ... OH, did you fill the
dashpots before you went out for your drive? ... that WILL
cause stumble on acceleration. ... i'de check that first...
its easiest to fix!
as to the dizzy cap... the wires are held in with SET SCREWS
from the inside of the damn things.... i had to file the sides
of a narrow screwdriver to custom make a tool to fit... ..
my (semi-educated advice) is to buy a TOP ENTRY CAP, (they're
interchangable on the dizzy) and a set of new plug wires so
that you don't have to mess with that crazy thing ever again!
then WHEN the do fail out on the road, you can limp to any
auto parts store and replace the wires WITHOUT FRICKING TOOLS
with READILY AVAILABLE wires. .. make things easy!!!!!!
