Thanks to all who replied to my message about my dead battery. Last
night I removed the Interstate battery and pried off the covers. It
looked new but was purchased in 2003, and probably because the P.O. did
not use it much, there was lots of sulfation on the plates. I'll try to
resurrect it for the formula car lift but the MG gets a new battery,
which hopefully will be maintained in better shape. I got 8 years from
the last two batteries in my Ford pickup trucks, and and I'm over 7
years for my 1998 Ranger. I'll check the charging system after the new
battery is installed. I had no indication the battery was weak because
with the Crane electronic ignition the Midget starts immediately and I
never hear the starter motor crank.
