Thread-topic: Engine being pulled on Saturday for rebuild: tips and tricks anyone?
Hello,

Well, that is it, I am pulling the engine out of my 78 midget on
Saturday morning for a rebuild (main issue being worn rings and noise in
transmission).

The engine has 80K and has never been touched...

While there, I will be replacing the bearings, gaskets, timing chain,
engine mount, rod bolts.

I will check the valve train to see if it needs to be worked on.

I will either change the rings, or pistons (going for 9:1 compression)
if the cylinder bores needs to be re-bored.

Is there anything else that I need to look at the same time, anything
else that need/should be replaced.

I also plan to balance the crank...

I do not plan to change the camshaft (due to cost)...

Any pointers would be welcome.

Ho, pointers on how to remove the engine would be great too!!!!

I only have the Haynes manual.

Regards, cyrille
