Back in the Mesozoic Era, I was approaching Kansas City and knew I would
soon need gas. The closer I got, gas prices were plunging every block,
and soon I realized they were having a good old raise the flag and drop
the prices, boys, we got us a GAS WAR!!! When the price got down to
17.3 cents a gallon, I figured they couldn't go any lower. After
filling up, I continued on and within a half mile, it was down to 13.2
cents a gallon.

In the late 1960's, I remember complaining to a friend who owned the gas
station. Gas had shot up from 32.9 cents a gallon to 50.9, and I was
madder than hell. How good that 50.9 looked when the gas crisis hit in
the '70's! The funny thing is, when adjusted to inflation, gasoline
today is cheaper than it was at that time.
