That was a good thing you did, Willy.

May Santa's reindeer fly over your house this year without crapping on the
cars in your driveway.

My wife wrote this, and its hard to add MUCH to it

quote:
------------------------------
Dear Friends and Family,

I can't begin to tell you the things I saw yesterday, and although I will
have photos to pass along, pictures and words will never do it justice. The
destruction in Waveland is complete and total - homes, schools, business.
Every vehicle in the area destroyed, most homes completely flattened. The
mounds of trash and debris is unbelievable. They have truly lost everything.

Except their spirit.

I saw FEMA trailers hung with holiday lights, saw churches still holding
services in the shell of their building, saw that parents had waded through
standing water to decorate their children's graves.

I met families living in their ruined homes, signs in the front yard simply
stating, "We Will Stay." I was reassured many times that "we'll get through
this!". These people are a monument to the human spirit.

We unloaded the gifts in "the yard" at the Public Works Dept. - these men
are truly gracious, grateful, and haven't lost their sense of humor. It was
wonderful to meet them - and to know what they are getting for Christmas -
and to finally put a face with a name and a wish. We met Cy (getting
workboots) and Jerry (getting the insulated jumpsuit) who showed us photos
of his beautiful son, Samuel, and his wife, Becky. They lost everything -
and are getting a whopping $200 reimbursement from their insurance company.
We also met Jimmy, Holley's dad, who will find out that he has a giant
basketball hoop to assemble this week. I wish you could have seen the faces
of these fathers, helping us unload, and seeing the seven bikes we brought
for their kids.

We're heading home tomorrow (Wednesday) and weather-permitting, will be home
for the holidays. Thank you for all your good thoughts, and for helping us
fulfill these wishes. I will have photos for you over the holidays...

Peg...
