Hello all,----I recently looked at a friends 67 Sprite and was alarmed to
see how much fore and aft play there was in the steering shaft. Pulling on the
steering wheel got about 1/4 or more in and out movement. All the movement is
at the rack. Nothing appears to be missing. Could it be that the pinion is so
worn and chewed up that it allows for this much movement. Turning the
steering wheel left/right shows more play than I have seen before. Any
thoughts? I
suggested a tear down to check it out. Bob C
