for years i've been reusing original wiper blade assemblies and making a
refill out of cut down generic material from the auto parts store.
any NOS or just plain old wiper blade is pretty brittle and i'd consider
unsafe IF ya had to really use it. between replacing the rubber part and
rain-x i've been afforded pretty good visibility in wet weather driving.
just a bit of trivia, north american manufacturers changed from bright
polished stainless steel blade assemblies to an unpolished argent like
finish in 1967 to try to deter sun glare. the early '67 blade assemblies
were made out of the 1 side polished material stamped upside down to
deplete stock of polished material before use of completly unpolished
material. i learned this during the restoration of the 67 impala i have
here , wich was an early los angeles assembly plant car. i wanted to know
why the back sides of the wiper blades were polished on it. that was part
of documenting the car for AACA judging.

chuck.
BTW. there are a number of difrent rubber profiles for wiper blade
refills!(not just the old fashioned choices of anco or trico!) you may
have to "shop" a bit to find the right profile or cross section to fit the
blade you posess!
