OK, on my wipers, I did manage to get the new insert into an old Rainbow
blade, happy enough with the looks and should function fine. Should.
Works worth a crap. Big streaks and areas you can see isn't touching the
glass. Can spray water on the windshield and can use the blade itself as a
squeegee of sorts and works great, so wondering:
Insufficient pressure? I have the old style chrome arm, which uses a "blade"
type of spring, not like a coil spring to tension the blade. Could be other
reasons for this. I wanted to ask for opinions on this because I do need to
have the car inspected, and not sure how picky they might be on a safety item
like this. Hope to not have to use the wipers much, but yeah, things happen
and i want to have a clear windshield, so it's not "just" the inspection that
bothers me. As it is right now, I've ordered new blades and arms from one of
the normal providers. Probably won't look correct at all. Guess I can pop the
"show" blades and arms on at a show if I thought it was important, not likely
to happen though. I don't think it's the glass at fault since I can squeegee
them clear OK without alot of force. Maybe I am overlooking something, I did
twist on the arm to change the angle, etc. Nothing seems to help, short of
pressing down on the blade while it's wiping.
Thanks again for any advice.
Dan
