I'll throw my 2 cents in on this one. It is unusual to wipe mains before
rod bearings due to lack of oil. Main bearings don't take the same load
from combustion as a rod bearing, which is constantly getting changing
loads (combustion then inertia). All main bearings wiped would indicate
a miss match between crank journal size and bearing sizing. This would
also generate the heat you were describing. I don't see this as low oil
pressure, I see wrong crank bearing clearances leading to high internal
friction and resulting bearing failure.
